VLT is how much visible light gets through. Lower is darker. Alabama allows 32% and up on every side and rear window, so 35% is the darkest street-legal option.

Good to know
Straight answers.
Alabama tint law, cure times and the questions we hear every week.
Alabama requires at least 32% VLT on every side window and the rear window, with no more than 20% reflectivity. That makes 35% the darkest street-legal shade we offer. Windshields can only have non-reflective film above the AS-1 line (roughly the top 6 inches), or a near-clear 70% ceramic across the full glass. Alabama does allow a medical exemption for darker film with a physician's certification.
